Second Tournament Coming Up!

Well, well, well.. spring season has finally arrived. Our spring break trip was a lot of fun and we played against a D2 school on a PGA qualifiers course - it was pretty sweet! After our spring break trip to Florida and playing in our first tournament, I think we are all feeling pretty confident about this season. After last weekend, we shot decent scores and most of us feel pretty confident with our game. Yesterday at practice was a lot of short game and it was pretty beneficial (besides the fact that I was all angry about scheduling for classes, which actually ended up being just fine haha). I have this small issue with chipping OVER a sand trap onto the green.. it's some sort of phobia that you get when you are going to par a hole until your ball goes in the sand and you lose 3 strokes because of it (I am still salty about that at the Grove City tournament). Anyways, working on that at practice really helped me out! I'm really excited for this weekend. We'll be playing at Capital and hopefully shooting near (or will be shooting) our season goal... 360. Right now, I think short game is what most of us need to work on. If we keep working at it a lot, we should be prime for OACs. We are going to be playing tomorrow and should be getting in some good practice for this weekend! Anyways, that's all for now! :) Go pretty princesses and mighty ducks!!!
this past weekend was an interesting start of the spring season. Some of us didnt play as well as we had hoped but it was still a lot of fun. Lindsey is now killing the ball. haha and i think some of us need some major work in the bunkers. I thought practice yesterday was very productive. We worked mainly on short game and drives. Coach told me to hit the ball off my back foot.. well no wonder i was going in the sand all the time. Ali and I played a few holes. Then before we left on 18 coach thought of this WONDERFUL idea to play it as a competition and have the two with the highest scores carry the bags to the van. Well ill just say no one had to carry anyone elses bag...

SPRING SEASON BEGINS!!

Spring season began yesterday with our first official tournament. I say official because we actually played an exhibition against Division II nationally ranked St. Leo while we were on spring break in Florida at the beginning of the month. However, I will let the players tell you more about their "adventures" from the spring break trip as they start blogging this week.

We played yesterday in a one day event at Grove City Country Club in Grove City, PA. I liked going there because I coached for 4 years in neighboring Slippery Rock, so it was good to be back "home" and see some people I hadn't seen in a while. The team didn't seem to mind either as it was 60 and sunny when we left Cleveland. However, something happened right before we were going to tee off and sunny and warm turned into cloudy, windy, and cold. Not exactly nice weather from the hosts!(ha ha)

The team did a great job of fighting off the tough elements and finished in the top half of the 6 team field. Lindsey had a career low which is AWESOME!!! It was a great end to the week as we also had a great week of practice. I was already really excited coming into the spring season because I felt our last tournament of the fall really brought us closer as a team, and sure enough this first week has been a blast!! Our team chemistry is really good right now and everyone is working hard at improving their game. Our goal is to keep improving every day and give it all we can at the OAC Championships at the end of April. I have a good feeling that it is going to be a good spring for us and we will keep getting better and better!

This week is the Purple and White Invitational host by Capital University in Columbus. We are looking for another week of improvement and fun....and hopefully a little bit warmer weather. Although in the spring I guess any time it doesn't snow for an event, it should be considered a good thing : )

Can't wait to see how we do this week!!
